ORDERING DEADLINES/FEES

The 2024 DHS yearbook will go on sale starting July 01, 2024. There is a small price increase this year to cover printing and sales tax; There are discounts for ordering before September 1st:
- July 01, 2023 to July 31, 2024- $55 (Early Dread Special)
- August 01, 2023 to August 31, 2024 - $58 (Dreadnaught Discount)
- September 01, 2023 to April 01, 2025 - $60

Please note that yearbooks will not be available for pre-order after April 01, 2025.

School Photos

School photos for 9th, 10th, and 11th grades are taken during school, usually the first week. retakes are scheduled approximately one month later. Fall 2024: Picture day 9/5/2024; retakes 10/8/2024.

You can order photos online by going to SchoolPictures.com. Choose "fall individual pictures" and then search for school name to select DHS.

Student ID cards are distributed on announced days in the DHS Commons during lunch early in the school year. Any uncollected IDs remaining after distribution are available in the school office during regular hours.

Senior Photos

DUE DATE

December 20, 2024 in order for yearbook staff to meet strict publishing deadlines. Please check with your photographer to see if it is your responsibility to submit your senior photo or if the photographer will do it for you.

SPECIFICATIONS

Senior photographs for yearbook must meet the following requirements:

All photos must be vertical, color (no black and white or sepia tone)
Head and shoulder shots only (no pets, musical instruments, cars, other people or full body shots, for example)
Background - Yearbook will accept outdoor photos. Please make sure the photo is a head & shoulder shot and not a full body shot. Photo must be vertical. Glossy, no soft focus
No bare shoulders (within reason), no cleavage, no hats

When emailing a digital image to DHSybookads@gmail.com, please use the following format:

JPEG
Color Space: RGB or CMYK
File Size: under 10 MB Resolution; at least 300 ppi

Submitting Your Senior Photo Digital Submission

DIGITAL: Submit digital photo to yearbook business manager by emailing the photo to DHSybookads@gmail.com Also cc: yearbook adviser, Barry Mergler merglerb@dexterschools.org

HARD COPY: Submit hard copy of photo directly to high school main office in envelope marked “Senior Photo". Yearbook staff will scan the photograph. Photos will not be returned unless specifically requested to do so.

Senior Photo Policy

Senior Photo Policy

The Unsinkable staff recognizes that senior portraits can be a significant event in a graduate’s life. While every effort will be made to accept and publish each student’s chosen senior portrait, editorial decisions in regards to cost and design may make their inclusion inappropriate that year.

The editorial board reserves the right to decide whether senior portraits will be printed in black and white or in color, or whether the Unsinkable staff will take every seniors portrait to ensure inclusion and consistency. Acceptable senior portraits will be head and shoulders without props of any kind. No full body shots will be accepted. All others may be cropped to fit design or rejected without further notice. Outdoor shots are also accepted, but props cannot be included. (Agreed Monday, May 14, 2018)

The yearbook staff will also follow the guidelines of the DCS Handbook as it relates to Students Rights of Expression, outlined on pages 33-34 of the handbook. Yearbook will also follow the Dress Code policy on page 37 of the DCS Handbook.

Senior Memory Ads

Senior Memory Ads are an excellent way to recognize and congratulate your graduating senior in the advertising section of the yearbook. Place your orders early – ads sell quickly.

Please be aware that advertising space is limited to a specific number of pages and yearbook staff cannot guarantee there will be space available at or after the Senior Memory Ad deadline.

Need design help? A yearbook staff member can design a senior ad at no extra cost. The staff member will design the ad and email a draft for review / approval before placing the ad in the yearbook. If interested, please email dhsybookads@gmail.com and cc: merglerb@dexterschools.org

Deadline

Senior Memory Ads must be ordered, paid for, and all artwork must be submitted to the yearbook by December 20, 2024 to ensure the yearbook meets strict publishing deadlines.

SubmitTING SENIOR ADS

EMAIL: Email JPEG file of ad (at least 300 ppi resolution, no more than 10 MB file) to DHSybookads@gmail.com & merglerb@dexterschools.org and submit payment and completed order form to high school main office in an envelope marked “Senior Ad - Mergler”.

HARD COPY: Submit hard copy of artwork along with payment and completed order form to high school main office in an envelope marked “Senior Ad - Mergler”. Yearbook staff will scan artwork. Please indicate on order form whether or not you want any pictures returned.

OTHER: Submit compact disc or flash drive with artwork (JPEG file, at least 300 ppi resolution) along with payment and completed order form to high school main office in an envelope marked “Senior Ad - Mergler”.

Senior Ads are available in four sizes and prices.

Full page ad (8” X 10.25”) Portrait Orientation: $155
Half page ad (8” X 5”): $105
Quarter page ad (4” X 5”): $75
Eighth page ad (4” X 2.50” – business card size): $50
